This subproject is for work that can only be done at a new series release (that is, a release with the last number 0, for example 2.2.0 or 3.0.0).
- The major version number (the x in x.y.z) increases when at least some rolling upgrades are not possible from the previous major version. For example, a rolling upgrade from 1.0.8 to 1.1.15 should always be supported, but a rolling upgrade from 1.0.8 to 2.0.0 may not be possible.
- The minor version (the y in x.y.z) increases when there are significant changes in cluster default behavior, tool behavior, and/or the API interface (for software that utilizes Pacemaker libraries). The main benefit is to alert users to pay closer attention to the release notes, to see if they might be affected.
